Want to know more about SSL and HTTPS?

  • Gibson Research Corporation provides a useful quick peek at the HTTP protocol over TLS/SSL.
  • Gibson Research Corporation also provides a useful peek at the World Wide Web HTTP protocol.
  • Visit http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2616.txt to review technical specifications of the "HyperText Transfer Protocol".
  • Visit http://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2818.txt to review technical specifications of the "HTTP Over TLS" protocol.
  • If you use the Mozilla line of browsers (Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape), you might want to try a useful add-on privacy project from the mozdev.org developer list called TrustBar. According to it's author, "it is both a web spoofing protector and a site credentials supplier". While we cannot guarantee it will work for you, we employ it and find it to be a handy tool to confirm the use of SSL by webmasters making such claims.

About the design of this page

If you are using a "dated", non-text browser, this page may not render properly. You should be able to read all the content; however, since the styling is achieved with cascading style sheets (CSS) and old browsers do not support CSS, you must upgrade your browser. We apologize for any inconvenience.
